FDHDKJHFJDH This week was a bad week. I accidently deleted 2 years worth of sketches, including all my Sketch-a-day and my RP Compendiums. I mean deleted-from-recycle-bin-never-to-be-restored kind of deleted.

And then I rolled up to a ball in my bed for a week.

So I'm sorry I haven't been gettin back on peoples RPs. I WILL DO THAT NOOWWSSS.

I got into DAMMED! And this is Sev and Lucky, which is :iconfluffy-kitsune:'s character! Because of my slowness this is actually all we RPed up to this point. XD I'm usually much faster on this stuff I swear!

AGHHH the lighting. Does anyone have advice on the lighting?

FFFF THIS IS LOVELY. Great framing, composition, that wallpaper! those frames! that window seat!

As for the lighting I would definitely boost the reflections on the floor like crazy. You know that weird effect where light mirrors off reflective floors almost exactly, no matter what? Do more of that. You're already halfway there with that great tile texture you've got going. I would just boost that up a bunch. (Definitely look up reference!) Also, you could probably get away with reflecting some more of the sky onto the floor.

Here's a silly question that might help--where is the sun right now? Is that it up in the top window? Because if it is, you're gonna get a lot of light coming down on the top surfaces of things (hair, shoulders, the seated fellow's lap, the floor) and some defined cast shadows(or rather, defined pools of light on the tile). I think especially since the brightest spot in the bottom window is between the two figures, it's a little weird not to see that reflected on the ground somewhere. I mean, definitely keep the shadows they and the windowseat cast! But I think some pools of light on the ground could do some good.

UGH I love this.

As far as the lighting, your key light source is the window, and that is reflected by the work. It makes sense for Sev to be back-lit, so good job on that! Lucky however looks a little too much bathed in light. Maybe keep the highlights closer to his outer edges. I think he'd receive the most light closer to the center of the window, such as on his arm and the side of his face and floaty things. Also, consider the perspective painted by the window. You've got some natural lines created by where the light falls. According to that, your horizon line is just around Lucky's head. I think we might be able to see a little bit more of the seat that lucky is sitting on, and casting light on that would add more depth to the picture. Maybe his legs should also have a tad more color detail, especially around his lower thighs and knees., since they are also closer to the light. This would also add more depth. I also think it's cool how the frames of the upper window are affected by the strong light behind them. Maybe you could add a little of that to the window below, at least towards the top, so that the effect has more consistency. (it's really cool!)

The colors you used are very warm and vivid, and over-all I think the lighting issues are fairly minor, though it does create a slight problem with depth. Your imagery is dramatic and you've got a clear focal point. The issues you had with lighting do not take away that much from the overall picture. It evokes a mood and makes me wonder about what's going on in the picture! And that's what a successful work should do. :)
